My name is Shawn and I just wanted to share that by the grace of God Im beginning to find my way out of homelessness after struggling with alcoholism for a long time. Im truly thankful to say Ive been offered a telemarketing job that starts this coming Monday. Right now Im still staying in my car while I wait for those first few paychecks to come in.
Im not here asking for money at all. I just have a couple of very basic needs as the nights have turned really cold and I want to say in advance how deeply grateful I am to anyone who feels moved to help even a little.
The thing that would mean the most right now is a warm sleeping bag and maybe a blanket or two. Ive been making do with just a pillow and a sheet but even with every layer I own Ive been shivering through the night lately. Having something warmer would be such a blessing.
If anyone happens to have any ready-to-eat food that doesnt need refrigeration, things like canned items with pop-tops or granola bars or peanut butter crackers, that would help me so much until Im bringing in a steady paycheck.
And if anyone ever felt led to put even $5 or $10 of gas in my tank I would be incredibly thankful. I only have about $5 left right now so Im trying not to run the engine unless its absolutely necessary. Again I truly dont want cash handed to me, just whatever feels comfortable for you at the pump.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for even reading this far. Any kindness no matter how small it might seem will be received with real gratitude and many prayers for you and your family.
If anyone would like to say hello or drop something off I plan to be at the 11 am Sunday service at Mariners Church in Irvine. Id love to thank you in person and worship together.
