I am currently looking for a Class-A CDL holder PREFERABLY with car hauler experience. Truck is a Peterbilt 9 car/stinger. Must be willing to run all of California (primarily local LA/OC/IE/SD/VC), Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah (600 to 800 mile). Will be home daily, UNLESS taking a load to and from the above mentioned or cutoff time is missed. Mainly pulling loads out of Mira Loma, Wilmington, Long Beach, San Bernadino or Oxnard rail yards or ports so you MUST HAVE A TWIC CARD!! I would prefer driver to live in Orange County, Los Angeles or San Bernardino/i.e. area. This is due to the fact that most of the origins will be from the railyard as I mentioned the above. For example, to live in Palmdale or northern Valley would require a commute to atleast Long Beach every day. This could be too much.
As I stated previously, this is for a car hauler position (9 car Pererbilt) so loading, unloading and strapping the cars is a part of the job. If you are use to and are ONLY comfortable with drop and hook then this is definitely not the job for you. Being physically fit is a plus because getting in and out of the cars in cramped spaces and strapping the cars down while walking narrowly along the truck can be challenging.
Compensation will be paid weekly at a 28% rate of what the truck generated for the week. This equates to approx $1500+ per week if staying local.
W-2 conversation is not optional. Only 1099. We can discuss other options, but W-2 is not one of them. We offer Occupational Accidental Insurance. This is similar to Workmen’s Comp. but the individual holds a policy not the company. Its approx $120 per month.
