Full Job Description
La Strada Contracting is looking for an experienced Skip Loader Operator to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will have a work schedule of Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm with some overtime and weekend work required, consistent with business needs.
Responsibilities
· Enforce OSHA safety standards and ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols on-site.
· Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) on skip loader equipment.
· Safely and properly operate skip loader (including starting and stopping engine, grading, loading, and site prep).
· Perform fine grading of streets, ensuring proper elevation, slope, and finish to project specifications.
· Read grade hubs and assist with grade control to meet project requirements.
· Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
· Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
· Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulation compliance.
· Drive to jobsite following all safety posts and guidelines.
Skills/Attributes
· Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
· Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills.
· Ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
·Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and soil reports.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for up to 1 hour at a time and up to 3 hours per day, walk on uneven terrain, climb on/off equipment, lift up to 35 lbs.
Qualifications
· Must have a minimum of 5–7 years of equipment maintenance and operation experience.
· Must have experience operating skip loaders in grading and site preparation.
· Must be experienced in fine grading of streets to precise elevations and tolerances.
Certifications
· CA Driver’s License is required.
Location
In-person work at various job sites within an approximate 80-mile radius of our Lake Forest, CA corporate office.
