Job Summary
American Motorcars is a specialty restoration shop focused on Ford Broncos and
International Scouts. We are seeking an experienced automotive mechanic/technician with
a solid foundation in classic vehicles, diagnostics, and fabrication-minded problem solving.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, organization, and doing
things the right way—not rushing jobs or cutting corners.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, remove, and install vehicle components on classic vehicles
(1960s–1980s)
Perform mechanical restorations and upgrades (engine, transmission, brakes, steering,
suspension)
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues
Ability to rewire vehicles front-to-back and perform electrical diagnostics (training
available where needed)
Fabricate, weld, and problem-solve custom applications when required
Install modern drivability upgrades and support modern engine conversions when
appropriate
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Document work and communicate progress, parts needs, and recommendations clearly

Plan work and parts ahead so projects don’t stall
Document work and welcome inspection at key stages
Think critically and creatively when solving custom or non-standard issues
Keep workspace organized so anyone can understand job status
Communicate early if additional time, parts, or support is needed
Qualifications
Generalized knowledge of automotive repair and component installation
Well-rounded knowledge of classic vehicles
Ability to diagnose, fabricate, weld, and wire vehicles
Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic mindset
Electrical and wiring experience preferred (willing to train the right person)
Solid foundation of skills with the ability to work independently
Professional communication skills and strong attention to detail
Reliable transportation to and from the shop
Passion, patience, and pride in building vehicles the right way
Experience
Preferred: 5+ years of automotive or restoration experience
Will consider the right candidate with strong fundamentals and the right attitude
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform physical duties associated with automotive repair
Must wear required safety equipment (eye protection, hearing protection, steel-toe
boots)
Ability to acclimate to a shop environment
