If you’re passionate about hands-on learning, mechanical problem-solving, and making a tangible impact on a growing industry, we want you!
Job Overview
As an HVAC Apprentice, you’ll join our maintenance team to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical HVAC systems that regulate our grow environments. This is a paid apprenticeship combining on-the-job training with guided learning—perfect for anyone looking to build a career in HVAC with a focus on the fast-growing cannabis sector.
You’ll work closely with senior technicians, growers, and facility managers to:
Keep our grow rooms, drying areas, and processing spaces within tight climate parameters (temperature: 65–80°F; humidity: 40–60%—critical for plant health!).
Learn industry-specific HVAC skills that set you apart in the job market.
Grow your expertise while earning a competitive wage.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of certified HVAC Technician, you’ll perform:
Routine Maintenance: Assist with cleaning ductwork, coils, and filters; lubricating moving parts; and inspecting sensors (temperature, humidity, CO₂) to ensure system efficiency.
Basic Troubleshooting: Help diagnose minor issues (e.g., airflow restrictions, refrigerant leaks, faulty thermostats) using tools like multimeters, pressure gauges, and leak detectors.
System Support: Assist with installing new HVAC components (e.g., air handlers, dehumidifiers, fans) or upgrading existing systems to meet cultivation demands.
Climate Monitoring: Record and report real-time temperature/humidity levels in grow rooms, alerting senior techs to deviations that could impact crops.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to OSHA standards, company safety protocols (e.g., lockout/tagout for electrical systems), and EPA refrigerant handling rules (Section 608). Wear PPE (gloves, goggles, hard hats) at all times.
Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance for regulatory audits and future reference.
Qualifications & Requirements
We prioritize motivation, curiosity, and a willingness to learn!
Must-Haves:
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
Basic mechanical aptitude: Comfort with hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers) and eagerness to learn HVAC-specific equipment.
Valid driver’s license: To transport tools, parts, or supplies between job sites (if needed).
Physical stamina: Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, bend, and work in confined spaces (e.g., crawlspaces under ductwork).
Clean background check —no felony convictions.
Nice-to-Haves:
Interest in or prior exposure to HVAC systems (e.g., home AC maintenance, auto mechanics).
Eagerness to pursue industry certifications (EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Technician Certification, state HVAC license).
Strong work ethic and team player mindset: You’ll collaborate closely with growers, electricians, and other maintenance staff.
