PLEASE STOP REMOVING THIS POST!!! I WILL be selective where she goes! PLEASE GIVE HER A CHANCE!! (My experience tells me that you are someone with dogs of your own that you want adopted or sold. Please stop being cruel to other animals and taking up people's valuable time. You have no idea how hard it is to post this ad with the reception here.)
One female tricolor Australian shepherd up for adoption, roughly seven years of age. (I think she turns 7 in October, but am not sure.) Spayed, current on vaccinations. Rabies renewed mid June 2025.
--Good with male dogs, large and small, Fine with cats. (Likes to chase, will not harm and will leave cats alone if told to. She currently lives with a cat who is not afraid of her.)
--Well trained. Obedient and loyal
--Housetrained, loves to ride in the car. Does not get carsick.
--Gentle and meek. Lives to snuggle. but scared to be petted on her head if facing you.
This girl was taken in as a rescue, and simply cannot stay here except as an outdoor dog when no one is home, This would sound fine, except that we live in an area where we have had 116 degree days, and she's a snugglebug who wants nothing more than to be with her person. She needs to be an indoor dog at night and treated as a member of the family at all times. The reason why she must leave is that she wants to be top female, and picks fight after fight with our top female--and this one always loses. She just returned from the vet after her fourth serious fight, and that was after being left alone with the other female for less than two hours. As a result, she now has facial scarring and a notch taken out of her lower lip, which will most likely never grow back. Simply put? She needs to be in a home without another female dog.
Loves the water, going for walks/hikes, and is a sweetheart who charms all who know her. Just, ah....she's a very sincere wiggler. Calms down for fragile seniors.
Flaws:
--Anxious around small children-- needs an adult home or one with teenagers
--Has one fatty lump on her side. Cosmetic; only noticeable when petting her
--Some separation anxiety. She is fine in secure fencing, but will bark when left unattended. I personally never leave her without a male companion. I mention this because neighbors must be okay with allowing her to adjust to her new surroundings and allow barking until then.
Although I live hours away, I am willing to meet halfway and and possibly closer, if the fit is right. (My older vehicle is not up to long trips.)
If interested, please tell me a bit about your reasons for considering her. There are many dogfighters, and she has been through too much to have me not be diligent in vetting her new owner.
