I play guitar and I have jazz jams at my house in Irvine a couple times a month. The jams are in my living room, and I'd like to coordinate who attends each jam (in general, no drop-ins). I only schedule one of each available instrument; e.g., there won’t be two drummers or two bassists at any session.
I'm open to having beginners at the jams as long as they can follow a chart and keep time; no pressure, this is just for fun.
Singers are welcome as well, as long as they don't mind a little Bebop (I can provide a PA and mic for singers). There's also an upright piano, bass amp, and music stands in the room.
We read songs from various fake books and charts (e.g. The Real Books). My goal is just to have fun playing jazz standards for now; but eventually I'd like to play more "modern jazz;" by artists such as: Chick Corea, Yellow Jackets, Pat Metheny, Dave Weckl, etc, I'm also open to reading/performing any originals you may have written. Eventually, we can play gigs if there's an interest.
We also have online jams if that's more convenient for you.
Please contact me for details and sample recordings from previous jams.
Thanks,
Vince
