The Mesa Boogie Road King II is one of those amps everyone needs to own at some point in time, and this RK2 is in a Collector's Condition!!
The Road King II is an upgraded version of the Original Road King (this amp is the 2 and not the "1" (the first version)).
The Mesa Boogie Road King II improves upon the Series I by adding Lonestar-based cleans on channels 1 and 2, all-tube spring reverb instead of standard reverb, and two series effects loops (replacing the mixed series/parallel setup). The Series II also introduced a tuner mute function to the footswitch, while some users note more distinct power tube switching on the Series I.
Key Differences Between Road King I and II:
Clean Channels (1 & 2): The Series II updated the clean circuits to be based on the Mesa Lonestar, offering a warmer, more traditional clean sound compared to the standard Rectifier cleans on the Series I.
Reverb: The RKII features a superior all-tube spring reverb circuit, which is often considered more lush than the reverb on the RKI.
Effects Loops: The RKI has one series and one parallel loop, while the RKII updated to two series loops for better compatibility with modern pedalboards.
Footswitch & Functionality: The RKII replaced the external trigger functionality with a dedicated tuner out and mute switch.
Power Tube Feel: Some users report that the Progressive Linkage (switching between EL34 and 6L6) feels more dramatic and noticeable on the Series I, while the Series II is slightly more subtle.
Both amps retain the core 4-channel, 120-watt, multi-mode architecture
The Road King II is a “4” channel amp where you can channel switch between EL34’s, 6L6’s, and combine them.
You can have different power tubes for each channel.
Choose either an EL34 pair, 6L6 pair, EL34 and 6L6 pairs together, and even EL34 pair with two pairs of 6L6’s for a full 6 tubes running together.
I had purchased the amp myself for $3200, and barely played the amp (too busy with work/life), so should not need tubes for a long time.
The amp is in a "collector's condition" and worth a lot more than I am listing it here, but I had recently injured my hand, so I'm selling almost all of my gear.
There are “3” amp modes per channel.
You can also use different cabs for each channel (even mismatched ones).
Two effects loops.
It has a relay for switching another device.
The master works extremely well with the channel volume allowing low bedroom volume playing.
Extremely versatile amp and killer sounding!!
It has been one of my favorite amps to play and it takes drive pedals extremely well.
The amp is in a "collector's condition" and it comes with power cable plus the foot switch.
I take really good care of all of my gear so you will have a hard time finding any dust on the amp.
I hope this amazing amp will find a new home with someone that can make some killer music with it.
It is extremely rare to find one of these amps up for sale since they are "keeper" amps and it is even more rare to find one in this condition especially a Road King II head!!
Provide your contact number, so I'll know you are serious about getting the amp, thank you.
