The Honda CB-1 NC27 is a 399cc naked sport bike, also known as the CB400F in some markets, known for its light weight and sporty handling. It was produced from 1989 to 1990. Despite its appeal, it was only sold in the US for two years.
Key Features:
Engine: 399cc DOHC inline-four, liquid-cooled derived from the CBR400 detuned for the CB-1. Frame: Steel perimeter frame. Suspension: 41mm telescopic front fork, Pro-Link monoshock rear with preload adjustment. Brakes: Single 310mm disc with a two-piston caliper on the front, and a 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper on the rear. Riding Position: Sporty, but relatively compact with a narrow and thinly padded seat. Market: Originally for Japan, later released in the US and Canada.
Rarity and Appeal:
Due to its short production run in the US, the CB-1 is considered a rare and sought-after classic by some. Its light weight, manageable power, and nimble handling make it appealing to some riders. It's becoming increasingly popular with veteran riders who appreciate its qualities as a "lightweight screamer."
