My name is Stephanie, and I am a highly skilled and passionate cultural anthropologist, linguist, and writer.
I've spent most of the last decade in the East Asian region (China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Indonesia) doing research and linguistic/ cultural studies.
I'm now back in California and am looking to share my wealth of knowledge with interested individuals. As a long-time language learner and instructor, I will be able to teach you to speak Mandarin Chinese or Japanese properly and effectively. I will also be able to help you understand the cultural context for these languages, so you understand the "why" behind the trickier aspects of these seemingly enigmatic languages. My goal is to give you the tools to be able to speak Mandarin Chinese and/or Japanese skillfully, comfortably, and effortlessly. This will help you to socialize, do business, or simply enjoy yourself in the language.
I'm mostly available in the Long Beach area but will make special exceptions to travel for enthusiastic students in neighboring areas.
Below, please see a list of my degrees and credentials.
Thank you, and I look forward to learning together!
