Huntington Beach Private Guitar/Bass/Piano/Recording/Producing lessons (Huntington Beach)

offered in person
Hi I’m Kevin! I'm a Huntington Beach musician, recording engineer, producer, and educator. I’m currently available for lessons on guitar, bass, piano, drums, and music recording/producing. I have been playing and studying music for over 30 years and have been a recording engineer, studio musician, producer, and private teacher for 15 years. I have performed live for 200+ shows in various music genres on guitar, drums, bass and keys. With my most recent original band, we had recording contracts with 2 record labels and performed 2 tours over 13 states in the summers of 2018 and 2019. I have studied with private music teachers for over 30 years, including world class 7 string jazz master guitarist Ron Escheté https://open.spotify.com/artist/71X5GpyGncMuUuYE50it7F?si=VCuHckSUQgCWdtUwCqRqhw.

I studied music at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University Long Beach for 3 years before graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Audio Recording and Digital Media Arts from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2012. I am versatile in many genres including but not limited to rock, pop, country, metal, alternative, blues, classical, reggae, and classic rock. I have taught students ranging in ages from 5 to 78, and have current students I have been teaching continuously for over a decade. I run multiple recording studios, you can check out one of their youtube channels here https://m.youtube.com/@LeNestStudio/videos. Here is just some of what I am able to teach you:

-How to learn and play your favorite songs and solos
-Proper playing technique
-Understanding musical timing
-Music theory (scales, chord progressions, chord analysis etc.)
-Improvising
-Ear training
-Learning the fretboard
-Learning to read sheet music and tablature
-Recording/producing
-Learning about recording equipment and software, and techniques for recording, editing, mixing, and mastering.
-Getting prepared for musical performances/shows
-Learning live performance skills and how to communicate with the sound engineer.
-How to manage and care for your equipment/instrument (I also provide guitar and bass setups/maintenance to all of my students discounted greatly from what stores nearby normally charge)
-How to use audio equipment such as guitar/bass effects pedals, amps, mixers, software plugins, microphones and how to create good tones with these pieces of gear. I have a ton of these in my studio for you to experiment with and learn on with my help.
-Writing your own songs and understanding song structures, and more!

I am very proficient in the recording software Protools and Logic and can teach you how to use these very popular programs that are used heavily in the music recording industry.

I work with each of my students toward their particular goals in music, while focusing on helping them be a well rounded musician.

I teach out of my professional recording studio in southeast Huntington Beach. In some circumstances I am willing to travel for an extra fee based on distance, though lessons are always best in my studio environment.

Please contact me at 714-804-2643 (text is the best way to reach me) with your music experience and any questions you may have, or to schedule a lesson.

-Kevin
