Seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Civil/Subrogation Paralegal to support attorneys in civil litigation matters with a focus on subrogation claims and civil defense. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, strong writing skills, case management skills, experience in insurance-related recovery matters, and the ability to manage files from intake through resolution. The candidate is expected to navigate through the various courts throughout the state.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management
Open, organize, and maintain civil litigation and subrogation files
Review insurance policies, claims files, and supporting documentation
Draft correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement demands
Monitor deadlines and maintain litigation calendars
Subrogation Support
Analyze liability and damages in property, auto, and/or workers’ compensation subrogation matters
Communicate with insurance carriers, adjusters, and opposing counsel
Prepare and track medical treatment and medical billing
Litigation Support
Draft complaints, answers, motions, and propound/respond to discovery
Prepare subpoenas and coordinate service of process
Assist with deposition preparation
Support attorneys in trial preparation including trial notebooks
File documents with state and federal courts (including e-filing systems)
Summarize discovery responses
Administrative & Client Support
Maintain regular communication with clients and carriers
Track recoveries and assist with disbursement documentation
Coordinate conferences with clients to respond to written discovery and obtain required information
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
Paralegal certificate required
3+ years of civil litigation and/or subrogation experience
Knowledge of court rules and filing procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software
Experience with e-filing systems (state and federal courts)
