JOB SUMMARY:
The Cemetery Groundskeeper performs a variety of maintenance tasks associated with
maintenance of the Memory Garden Memorial Park & Mortuary Cemetery Grounds and
Facilities. This position reports to a direct supervisor and is expected to be able to work both
independently and together with other Groundskeeping employees, depending upon the task.
The required duties are typical for grounds maintenance in any large municipal park or garden.
Most work will be performed with hand tools. This is an entry-level position, and includes on the
job training.
SCHEDULE:
Shift: Mon-Sun: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
(Must be available to work Saturday or Sunday)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grounds clean-up and disposal of refuse
General landscaping work
Clean mausoleum walkways, glass windows, dusting where needed
Replace lights in mausoleum as needed
Clean/maintain storm drains.
Running irrigation system per watering schedule.
Irrigation repair work; replacing sprinkler heads, etc.
Repair damage to lawn.
Mow section and garden lawns.
Trim memorial tablets.
Setting of markers.
Replant landscapes.
Provide assistance to customer families and guests with grounds maintenance requests.
Operate specialized equipment to move materials.
Assist in completing interments.
Assist in set-up and clean-up before and after special events.
Install tents for funeral services.
Any other task/duty requested/assigned by management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a caring, professional demeanor and enjoy assisting families at a difficult time.
Prefer a minimum of 6 months of experience in a maintenance position.
Valid California Driver’s License.
Ability to safely lift up to 100 lbs.
Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays.
High school diploma/GED certification.
