I am selling a rug that was given to me by a neighbor who moved away. Before moving, I was told it was imported, good quality and was from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Size is 132-inches by 88-inches and it is very heavy. It appears to be in good condition but was in storage so most likely needs cleaning. Please see photos for more details and to assess the condition yourself. Also be sure and check out the other items I have for sale and message me if you want to combine orders. Thank You.
I am not sure of the age or origin, but based on my research, this appears to be a Ziegler-style oriental area rug, likely hand-knotted and made of wool. The style, which is often referred to as a Peshawar Ziegler or Chobi Ziegler, blends traditional Persian weaving techniques with designs that appealed to Western tastes in the late 19th century. Key Characteristics
• Design: The rug features large, spaced-out floral and curvilinear motifs with an ornate border, which is typical of the Ziegler style. The central patterns may resemble the traditional paisley or boteh motif, which symbolize eternal life and fertility.
• Color Palette: It uses a subdued and soft color palette of beige/ivory and a distinct red/rust border, often achieved using natural vegetable dyes. Many Ziegler rugs undergo a special "stone washing" process to give them a vintage or antique patina.
For local pick up, this item is in North Huntington Beach (area code 92649). I can also meet along the 405 Freeway between North Huntington Beach and LAX on weekday afternoons.
