Summary
The Production Worker is responsible for crafting Shakewell's signature shakes and beverages. This role involves all aspects of production, from ingredient preparation and blending to bottling and packaging. The ideal candidate is passionate about quality, has an eye for detail, works with a sense of urgency, and is committed to maintaining a safe and sanitary production environment.
(Please note: Shakewell is a growing startup. Initially, this position will require work in multi-day blocks approximately every three weeks, aligned with our current production schedule. As customer demand increases, we anticipate production frequency will ramp up, and this role has the potential to become a full-time position within the next 3-6 months. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Precisely follow all recipes and instructions to prepare, blend, and bottle Shakewell products, ensuring consistency in quality, taste, and presentation.
Accurately weigh and portion juice concentrates, dry ingredients and other raw materials according to specific recipes.
Operate, monitor, and clean production equipment such a commercial pasteurizer, filling machine, bottling lines, and labeling machines in a safe and efficient manner.
Package, seal, and label finished products accurately, ensuring they meet Shakewell's quality standards.
Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized work environment by following daily cleaning rosters for all equipment, surfaces, and storage areas (walk-in coolers, freezers, dry storage).
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and report any shortages to the Production Manager.
Assist with receiving, unpacking, and properly storing deliveries.
Adhere strictly to all company policies and health department standards for food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.
Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily and weekly production goals.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in a food production, commercial kitchen, or manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
Certification: A current Food Handler's Certificate is required, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire is highly preferred.
Passion: A genuine interest in natural foods, healthy beverages, and quality products.
Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
Communication: Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Flexibility: Must have a flexible work schedule, including the ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift objects up to 40 lbs.
Repetitive use of hands and wrists for tasks like grasping, cutting, and bottling.
Ability to work in environments with fluctuating temperatures, including walk-in coolers and freezers.
Work Environment
The work environment involves regular exposure to:
Food products including fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and dairy.
Loud noises from equipment such as industrial blenders.
Wet or slippery floors.
Controlled temperature zones, including coolers and freezers.
Production equipment that must be operated safely (blenders, bottlers, etc.).
Dress Code
Clean, comfortable clothing suitable for a food production environment. Non-slip, closed-toe shoes are required. Company-provided aprons and hair restraints (hat or hairnet) must be worn at all times during production.
