Position Summary

The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of banquet and catering events. This position ensures that events are executed flawlessly by leading the service team, communicating with clients, and maintaining the highest standards of hospitality. The Banquet Captain acts as the primary point of contact during events and works closely with the kitchen and management team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and confirm event details with management and staff.

Oversee setup of banquet rooms, including tables, chairs, linens, décor, and service stations.

Supervise and direct banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff throughout the event.

Greet clients upon arrival, confirm expectations, and handle last-minute changes or requests.

Ensure food and beverage service is delivered promptly and professionally.

Maintain quality standards in presentation, guest service, and cleanliness.

Resolve guest issues and service challenges quickly and professionally.

Monitor timing of food courses and beverage service in coordination with the kitchen.

Oversee breakdown and cleanup, ensuring equipment and supplies are properly stored.

Complete post-event reports and provide feedback to management.

Must be available to work all events (90% take place on Friday and Saturday) Some events will be during Sunday thru Thursday.

Qualifications

Previous banquet or catering service experience required (leadership experience preferred).

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to train, motivate, and manage a team.

Knowledge of banquet service standards, food handling, and hospitality best practices.

Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.

Flexible schedule – availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
