Position Overview
The Bar Manager oversees all operations of the bar, ensuring exceptional guest service, efficient staff performance, and profitability. This role combines leadership, financial acumen, and hands-on management to maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment while driving beverage sales and maintaining compliance with all regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
Supervise daily bar operations, including opening, closing, and cash handling procedures.
Ensure consistent quality in drink preparation, presentation, and service.
Maintain proper inventory levels and oversee ordering, receiving, and storage of all beverages and supplies.
Implement and enforce sanitation, safety, and liquor compliance standards.
Staff Leadership
Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise bartenders and barbacks.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching or corrective action as needed.
Foster a positive, professional, and efficient team environment.
Financial & Sales Management
Monitor cost of goods, labor, and overall bar profitability.
Develop drink menus, specials, and promotions to increase revenue.
Track daily sales and prepare reports for management.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate pricing when applicable.
Customer Experience
Maintain a welcoming, energetic atmosphere that aligns with the venue’s brand.
Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints swiftly and professionally.
Uphold high standards of guest satisfaction and repeat patronage.
Compliance & Administration
Ensure all staff are trained and certified per local alcohol service laws.
Maintain accurate records of inventory, incidents, and staff certifications.
Work closely with General Manager or Ownership to align bar goals with overall business objectives.
Qualifications
-Minimum 3 years of experience in bar management or supervisory role.
-Strong knowledge of mixology, craft cocktails, beer, and wine.
-Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and drive revenue.
-Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
-Familiarity with POS systems, scheduling software, and inventory management tools.
-Must be of legal age to serve alcohol and possess (or obtain) all required certifications.
