Selling my cherished McIntosh MX160 A/V Processor. MSRP: $14,500. This processor is in mint condition. I cannot find a single blemish on it. McIntosh A/V Processors are some of the best A/V Processors that you can buy. McIntosh replaced this unit with the MX170 which provided discreet 15.1 channels of processing. This unit has 15.1 channels, but some of the channels are matrixed. Other than that, they were essentially the same unit. Then a couple years later, they added 8K HDMI capabilities and released the current MX180 for $19,500. They are all very similar, but in my opinion, not worth spending the extra money to upgrade for 8K processing.
One of the biggest issues that people had with the MX160 was the handshake issues with certain pieces of equipment. I was able to solve this issue by bypassing the video processing on the MX160 with the best video processor that you can buy, the HD Fury VRROOM. The VRROOM is an 8K HDMI switch/upscaler with full audio extraction. This allowed me to connect any piece of equipment that had handshake issue with the MX160, while still maintaining full 3D audio. It essentially gave me an additional 4 HDMI ports to add to the MX160s 8 HDMI ports.
In my opinion, you will not find a better AV Processor with the best room correction (Lyngdorf's Room Perfect) for your home theater setup. I hate to sell it, but my wife is asking me to move to an all-in-one unit. I currently run 3 amplifiers connected to this processor. Looking to replace these 4 units with a single high-end receiver. I wish I had a dedicated home theater space but unfortunately do not. She thinks our space looks cluttered with all the equipment. I'm just trying to keep her happy.
The processor is in excellent working condition. It has the latest firmware installed on it. It will include everything that it came with originally, so manual, remote, calibration microphone w/stand and original package.
