Super Reluctant Sale – See pictures of this (non-Manx) 1900cc VW Dune Buggy ... and consider the actual potential once Paint & Body is completed, and some final tuning, finishing, refurb and attention is given.
Note: The pictures are of the Dune Buggy before is was driven up to the Paint & Body shop. Currently the little dune buggy body has been primered and is prepped (some disassembly required) for final color.
The pictures of the Dune Buggy are only to represent the condition it was in at the time I drove it to a credible professional Paint & Body shop. At the time it was always a great-running 1900cc Volkswagen-based dune buggy that I truly never thought I’d let go. Life changes move my hand, so I imagine quick cash, and the right dune buggy person is about to score big! Only been for sale, is when I purchased over 10 years ago. Built strongly and right by the previous owner as a daily driver and sound off-road buggy.
Included is Fully paid-for professional custom paint job ( over $7,000 invested and waiting for your own personal final paint and body color and personal project completion direction.) I've waited for quite some time to make this difficult decision to either paint it a color of my choice Pantone 294 Dodgers Blue or to provide for a potential new owner with a passion and vision the rare opportunity to start fresh: Currently it's in a primered, and pre-color state. (I don't have immediate pictures of this.)
Here is my take on the overall condition right up to being driven up to Paint & Body for prep and its currently stored at Paint & Body shop condition:
Strong, torquey 1900cc dual-port engine that after fluid changes, tune-up and after paint job is projected to run strong, idle smooth, and pull hard.
Quick and tight 4-speed manual transmission.
Brakes and everything mechanically sound and strong at time of being driven up for Paint & Body work.
Complete TOP NOTCH custom re=wiring had just been done months before been driven into Paint & Body shop. All top notch heavy gauge re-wiring for future custom use and expansion potential.
Genuine CenterLine wheels themselves worth a lot, with off-road tires.
Dual Hand brakes for potential off-road fun.
Needs upholstery to match paint color, especially after time in shop, but the seat are a great pair of rare German-Type Racing Seats themselves worth a considerable amount.
Roll cage, as pictured.
Complete, full top/ cover
Tow bar that fits mounts on Nerf bumpers
Clean title, DMV VIN transcript, registration non-op for Paint & Body project timeline. Odometer reading is unsure. Requires your final choice of paint color and project completion, finishing and direction, I'd imagine a tune-up, fluid change, battery and other mid road ready maintenance after final Paint & Body clean up... I imagine you'd be ready to rip on street or sand. Under my ownership it has been gently driven with no off foad use just PCH and beach cruising.
This isn’t a massive starter project buggy, It will however needs a refurb and care after being stored and the Paint & Body is completed... at the time it was brought into shop the buggy was literally approx. 90% custom ready... see the pictures provided and that is exactly where the buggy was right before by driven into the paint & body shop for work – so with the exception of dust, time and non-use I expect for what the super low price, if you put in your time and some refurb, clean up, polishing you'd be looking at an opportunity that could quickly and inexpensively get back to sorted, dialed in, and looking and operating absolutely wicked in 2026 and a potential Dune Buggy that I could see exceed 12,500.00 in value. In fact, I always felt and others believe, that if I had finished this project I could probably had seen 14,500.00
See the pictures as overall the stance is perfect, and it had always gotten thumbs-up everywhere we went.
I’m only selling because at this point I am in a position to need to see this go to someone that has the time and attention bringing it home deserves, not because I want to. Priced fairly at $9,700.00 OBO for a quick, drama-free sale to a well understood home and someone who really knows and appreciates what they're really looking at and the potential it offers. No trades, no payment plans, no joyrides (as it is still in paint prep condition and has been at Paint & Body shop for some time now.)
