The most original, unrestored and rust-free Alfa Romeo Alfetta in existence? Incredibly rare opportunity to own a rust-free and beautiful Mario Andretti edition Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV. The special Mario Andretti Signature Edition model included a rear spoiler, free-flow Ansa performance exhaust, Koni performance shocks, Campagnolo Turbina alloy wheels, autographed dash plaque and fenders, Italian flag color body stripes and sporty red carpeting. Only 150 of these cars were given the Andretti signatures and flag stripes in honor of his time behind the wheel of the T33 sports car.
The Alfa Romeo GTV for sale here is number 142 of the 150 Mario Andretti Limited Edition models produced by the factory.
This car is a rare find and looks fantastic. The paint, body and interior are sharp. It has been in a dry CA climate since new. You'll likely never find another Alfetta that's as rust-free as this one.
In the last year Alfa Romeo Performance Connection serviced the car with...
New water pump
New cooling hoses
All fresh fluids
Remove/repair fuel tank
New fuel lines
New brake lines
New ignition components
New tires
New rear hatch strut
Driveline flex plates replaced
New motor mounts
New brake and clutch master cylinder
Front-end lowered to correct European ride height
...and various other smaller items.
The car is also fitted with NEW twin Weber carburetors in May, 2025.
The rear mounted 5-speed transaxle transmission shifts smoothly. The Alfetta models were noted for the rear position of the transaxle (clutch and transmission) and the De Dion tube rear suspension — an exotic arrangement designed for racing cars to optimize handling by balancing front/rear weight distribution, as well as maintaining a low polar moment of inertia and low center of gravity.
The brakes (inboard brakes on the rear), steering and suspension perform as they should. The car tracks straight down the road with no drifting or pulling when the brakes are applied.
The original 14-inch Campagnolo alloy wheels had new Toyo tires installed the 2nd week of January 2024. Afterwards, the car received a proper wheel alignment.
The interior is crisp and sharp. It would be difficult to find an Alfetta with a better interior. The Alfa Romeo polished steering wheel looks incredible, just like new, and the dash is nearly crack-free. There are new red Lloyds floor mats up front. The door panels in these Alfetta's often show age and deteriorate, but not these, they look great. The rear seats are in excellent condition. NEW front seat upholstery -- In June of 2024 the front seats were freshly upholstered in their original pattern and look sharp, with all mechanical seat adjustments functioning as intended (the driver's seat has fore/aft, recline and also height adjustments). The original air-conditioning compressor was removed from the engine bay but is included with the car. An original Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo also functions as it should. Gauges and interior and exterior lighting function properly, including the fog lamps.
The white paint, Andretti stripes, rear spoiler and front air dam provide a crisp and sporty look. The color combination is stunning in-person. Being from a dry CA climate, the body is in excellent condition. The doors/hatch/hood all close and latch perfectly with excellent shut-lines. Did you note the period-correct rear hatch "Shadow" louvers?
There's no rust in the undercarriage, rockers, jack points or spare wheel well, with only minor bubbles behind the passenger rear wheel. This is an incredibly solid car.
A spare set of GTV rear quarter vent panels with Alfa's famous green Quadrifoglio emblems are also included, along with the original Mario Andretti Alfetta brochure and Shadow louvre brochure. The original jack is secured in its proper position in the engine bay.
Her all-aluminum 2.0 liter DOHC engine is a correct Alfetta engine and runs strong and has good oil pressure and compression.
