This van comes with a good deal of Pedigree….
Used for the original filming of PAYDAY 2 video game, and is now known as “The Blue Van” or “the Getaway Van”….the game altered it to a GMC, never van, but the famous side stripe and blue color have been kept. This van was built in 2011, so this pre-dated that game, and I was hired for a day of filming for the game. The gaming producers then altered it slightly.

In 2011 I also started the now famous “So-Cal Slow Ride”, which is a van cruise which takes place in Palos Verdes, CA ever year….Big Bamboo has lead the caravan nearly ever year. (Sometimes I used another van I had for a while). The Cruises was heavily viewed and shared on Social Media, and was fairly instrumental in re-popularizing custom vans and vanning in Southern California in the modern day.
It has been featured in many overseas car magazines….so, it’s recognized worldwide.
Shortly after that first cruise, I started California Street Vans, So Cal’s most active van club, with members worldwide, and was president from 2011-2021. CSV has put on many amazing events, like BYOB, and various slow rides and other cruises, and continues to be active. (Ask about becoming a member)
A wall St Journal feature on The revival of Custom Vans featured a segment with Big Bamboo (See link). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U339ng4zOpk
A few years ago , Big Bamboo’s design was replicated into an limited edition collectible HO Slot Car “Boogie Van” , included in the Auto World “1973 Street Vans” set (pictured)
The company decided to call it “Blue Vanana”.
Condition : As with most vans of this age, there are some rust areas that will need to be addressed. Mainly the rear corner drip rails.
Some of the chrome has patina/rust, but nothing that affects anything structurally.
Other than that, the vans runs great, looks great going down the road, and is great for camping, cruising, and has done tons of both. Trips to Yosemite, Nor-Cal etc….
If not for the current rust issues, I’d be asking $20k, but taking that into consideration, I’m listing for $15k.
Otherwise, it’s a solid running and driving van, with a killer interior, and tons of custom extras, and a real head-turner.
No Lowball offers please. No Trades. Serious inquiries only.
