Over the decades, Guardian Aluminum Cookware brand became synonymous with durability and quality. For these reasons, as well as the fact that these pots and pans cook so nicely, Guardian Aluminum wares are eminently collectible.
Guardian Aluminum - History
In its day, Guardian Service Cookware was acknowledged as a superior quality product line. Originally from Los Angeles, California, made by the Century Metalcraft Corporation, Guardian Service Cookware was offered primarily through the presentations, demonstrations, and sales pitches of independent salespeople. These products were sold from around 1930 to 1956.
What was so attractive about Guardian Service Cookware, apart from its novel and triangular design, was its clever and (at the time) new method for the “waterless” cooking made possible by the domed, watertight lids that kept the moisture contained to the food within. Before the Second World War, each pan and pot also came with a metal lid, and the solidity of such hefty cookware made them the envy of their day. Even in the post-war years, when glass lids were introduced, there was no denying the sturdiness of Guardian Service wares.
For more than two decades, these products were sold far and wide. Unfortunately, it was in 1956 that a fire destroyed the factory, and production accordingly ceased. Presently, according to Guardian Service Cookware’s official website, the price tag on an entire set of cookware would amount to roughly 2,500 U.S. dollars.
