The 1993 Official Star Trek Tri-dimensional Chess Set from the Franklin Mint is the first authorized re-creation based upon the 3D chess game seen on board the Starship USS Enterprise and first introduced by Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock in the classic episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before."
The Chess Set consists of three main playing boards - each 4.25” square and four movable attack boards - each 2.125” square. The boards’ playing surface is clear and blue-etched acrylic. The frame is structural metal. The thirty-two game pieces were precision cast from a sturdier base metal than pewter and plated in sterling silver or 24-karat gold. A Star Trek 3D Chess Rule Book was included.
