This is an antique, bronze metal, heavy bracelet / anklet which was worn and used as currency by tribal people for rare but large transactions in Africa. This bronze primitive money currency specimen has engraved geometrical patterns and is in great overall antique tribal used condition with dirt and patina. Currency bracelets & anklets served as indications of wealth and were used to store finances, pay for dowries and buy or trade for livestock and goods. Also used in the slave trade (slave manila). This is an amazing example and a perfect piece to add to any advanced African currency collection. The most common forms of traditional money in Africa were made of metal, either forged or cast.
Very rare.
Note: I have 2 of these selling separately in my collection.
