Collector's Plate for Cast Member in Box, 1980
This plate was produced to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland (July 17, 1955). It has a silver rim, and Disney animated characters appear in silver and blue around an image of Sleeping Beauty Castle. On the back appear "Plate Number 580 (hand-numbered in silver ink) and Walt Disney's dedication: "To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past - and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America - with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the World." The plate is in its original slipcase box that has "A Disney Original" printed in silver ink on the exterior. Sale of this plate seems to have been "restricted to permanent WED, MAPO and Studio employees
