Selling my 70hp 2 stroke Evinrude outboard motor. I know the cowl says 60, but the serial says its a 70hp, so I believe the cowl was replaced at some point prior to my ownership. Cosmetically it is in ok shape, see pictures for more details. I believe it's a 20" shaft.
It runs and idles just fine, and sounds great when revving it in neutral. However the last time I used it out on the lake 2 years ago, it did struggle under load. Choking the motor helped keep it run so I think its a simple fix of either a fuel delivery issue or a air filter issue. I had a complicated fuel setup with additional filters, a pressure gauge, and a fuel cooler radiator which may have caused the issue. I started it up for the first time in 2 years using a barrel of water and it started up almost instantly. I couldn't replicate the issue I had 2 years ago but it is hard to test in gear in a barrel of water so I don't know if the issue still persists. It could use a tune up and is probably due for an impeller replacement.
The telltale pees out great and the trim works great. Prop and controls included although some of the plastic is broken on the handle but in working shape and the trim up/down button isn't included as it is installed on my dash.
I bought my pontoon boat about 6 years ago in Lake Havasu and I believe this motor is original to my boat which is a 1988. It also makes me think that this motor was used in fresh water only. Hours are unfortunately unknown as the hour meter was more than likely replaced because it was showing something like 52 hours when I bought the boat. I've used the boat every year other than last year and have put about 20-30 hours on it.
It is currently installed on my boat, but I just bought a 115hp Honda 4 stroke outboard to replace it so I will be removing it soon. I took a video of it starting for the first time in 2 years as well as idling and going into gear. I have no problem starting it up if you'd like but only for serious inquiries because it will be hard to rig up once its off my boat.
Update: I also bought a compression tester and the cylinders measured (from top cylinder to bottom): 118psi, 117psi, 119psi.
Let me know if you have any further questions. I forgot to take a picture of the controls and now the boat is back covered but if I get around to it I'll update the listing.
