The 1984 Summer Olympics, also known as the Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad, were held in Los Angeles, California during the summer of 1984. Like with all Olympic games, this event featured sporting events in many disciplines including athletics, swimming, cycling, equestrian, shooting, archery, and many others. The Olympics were also affected by a boycott led by the Soviet Union along with its close allies in response to the American-led boycott of the 1980 Games. Despite that, the competition went on with many highly contested battles in the various events.
This book is general summary of the Games with a focus on many photographs, all in full color. It really does a great job of bringing to life, as best as still photographs can, the livelihood of the Games. Along with the pictures, there are many essays included. Most of the essays contain a summary of the major events in each of the sports played.
