Perfect gift for a surfer or surf book collector. Vintage surfing books are a hot market right now and the prices have been increasing.
Originally published in 1963 by Bill Cleary and David H. Stern, this is the 1998 35th Anniversary Nostalgia Edition.
The 1st printing 1963 version is very rare, and has sold for over $300 in very abused condition, and is generally unobtainable.
This 27 year old 1998 version does not come up for sale much either. A used one can sell for $130 or more on eBay and surprisingly one did recently for $375, and you wont find another 27 year old NOS copy anywhere else.
All the photos are pre- 1963 and are in Black and white, All Longboards, no leash days.
Many of the descriptions and locations of surf spots along the southern California coast include aerial photographs.
Some locations in this guide no longer exist. Killer Dana, Stanley's.... They are gone.
I have a 3 of these books that are New Old Stock that have never been opened or read available. Inspect my pictures. The pages are bright white, no mold or mildew, no bumped corners, no spine creases no fingerprints or spilled bean dip. Take your pick.
