Offering this gorgeous 90 piece set of Vernon Kilns “Vernon’s 1860” dinnerware collected over some thirty-five years. Produced in Southern California between 1944 and 1953 (with a special order period in 1954), this hand tinted “look-alike” pattern was produced to “meet the demand for English styles” popular during the World War II years as stated in “Collectible Vernon Kilns” 2nd edition by Maxine Nelson. This colorful set depicts scenes of rural America as it was in the 1860’s showcasing a wide variety of tableaus from all across America including covered wagons, steamboats, Victorian mansions, horse drawn barges, trains, covered bridges, river cities, barns, plantation homes, etc. A truly beautiful and striking set that includes many hard to find pieces including a soup tureen with underplate, coffee pot, tea pot, covered casserole, tidbit tray and serving pieces. With the exception of a few minor chiggers or chips, set is in superb, near mint condition and was used by us for display only. We’ve looked the pieces over very, very carefully and beyond the few issues noted below there appears to be no crazing or staining on any of them. It is important to note that a butter dish was never produced for this pattern hence one not being listed. Any reflections, white spots or irregular shading patterns are due to glare from indoor lighting. All tableaus are dead center but appear to be off center in some of the photos due to camera angle. The set will not be broken up for individual pieces and is for local pickup only. Complete list with condition is seen below and everything is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other condition issues unless otherwise noted. Number in parenthesis before each item indicates how many of that piece are included.
