This was my great grandmother's and then grandmother's from her Pennsylvania farm house.
Unknown age, but Victorian or Edwardian era?
Looks like she painted it white on the inside and back leaving the original gold untouched around the framing portion at sometime.
She displayed some china plates and cups on it.
