Tanjore painting depicting the Krishna Veṇugopāla avatar (depiction of the god Vishnu as a flute player, the Supreme Being). The painting features bright colours and relief elements, as shown in the pictures. Dating back to the late seventeenth-early nineteenth century.

Frame dimensions: 34.5 x 39.5 x 4 cm

Tanjore's paintings are characterised by rich, flat colours, simple compositions, shimmering gold foil with glass beads, and sometimes precious, semi-precious gem applications.
Some parts of this painting have gold leaf, others are in relief with chalk.
