Saneatsu Mushanokoji Vegetables Japanese Watercolor Framed Painting Signed
A vintage Japanese ink and color of painted vegetable and a calligraphy poem by Saneatsu Mushanokoji. Summer vegetables of a Japanese sweet potato, lemon and a strawberry. Randomly arranged. This ink and color has a wonderful contemporary modern design framed in the traditional Shikishi* art board style in a wood frame with glass in front.

* Since the Heian period, people have been writing waka and haiku on Shikishi paper (various sizes), but in the Meiji period, they started using paper of the current size.

Saneatsu Mushanokoji was a well known Japanese novelist, playwright, poet, artist, and philosopher during the late Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods - across three eras.
Saneatsu Mushanokoji (Japan 1885-1976), is renowned for his literary work across the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods, but over the course of his 90 years he not only authored many books but also created a range of calligraphy and painting works. With strong associations with the Shirakabaha literary group Moritatsu Hosokawa built up a collection of related art work, including key works from Mushanokoji.
