Antique European wall barometer with hygrometer in
original solid wood case.
Hinged glass front with ornate brass backplate and green
stenciled scrollwork, typical of late 19th–early 20th century
scientific instruments.
Brass face labeled “BAROMETRUM” with Latin and Italian
weather terms (siccum, serenum, mutabile, ventus, pluvia) indicating
dry, fair, changeable, windy, and rainy conditions. Central scale marked
“pondus m/m mutatum in 0 mt.” refers to barometric pressure
adjustment relative to sea level. Includes mercury barometer tube,
round hygrometer dial, and original adjustment hardware.
