Vintage Celestial Map | Discovered During Home Renovation - $995 (Costa Mesa)

This beautiful celestial chart has been part of my personal collection since 1991.
When I was 23 years old, I purchased an old duplex that needed extensive renovation. While preparing to refinish the hardwood floors in the front hallway, I removed an old framed farmhouse picture from the wall. I was about to throw it away, but decided to save the frame.
After removing the backing, I made an unexpected discovery.
Hidden behind the farmhouse picture was this celestial chart.
I have kept it ever since.
The print depicts the southern celestial hemisphere with detailed constellations, mythological figures, ships, animals, and astronomical illustrations. It bears the name of Dutch cartographer Joannes Janssonius and the date 1660 as part of the printed artwork.
Whether displayed in a library, office, observatory, study, or living room, it is a striking piece that always starts conversations.
