Honore Daumier (1809-79) Framed Political Art "LES GENS DE JUSTICE"
Unique and rare French artwork.
Honoré-Victorin Daumier (French: 1808 – 1879) was a French painter, sculptor, & printmaker, whose many works offer commentary on the social & political life in France, from the Revolution of 1830 to the fall of the Second French Empire in 1870. He earned a living producing caricatures & cartoons in newspapers & periodicals for which he became well known in his lifetime & is still remembered today. He was a republican democrat, who satirized & lampooned the monarchy, politicians, the judiciary, lawyers, the bourgeoisie, as well as his countrymen & human nature in general.
