When you have chips, cracks, or rock damage on your windshield, & the damage is smaller than a debit card, most comprehensive insurance policies waive the deductible & pay for it so you don't have to. Most policies cover up to 6 repairs per car per year, as long as you carry comprehensive coverage.
When the damage is larger than a debit card, it is then that your deductible would apply, &/or you'd have to pay out of pocket to have it replaced.
