Overview:
The Accounting Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the accounting department. This includes supervising and training accounting staff. This position is responsible for the daily accounting operations and all aspects of providing full cycle accounting services to our community associations.
Duties:
• Manage a team of accounting staff.
• Ensure accounting processes are handled in a timely manner to facilitate the preparation of monthly association financial statements.
• Responsible for day-to-day accounting operations for associations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance across all financial activities.
• Manage proper set up for new associations.
• Maintain accuracy of general ledger, update chart of accounts as necessary and monitor accounts for discrepancies
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports, ensuring completeness and audit readiness.
• Proactively identify and resolve accounting issues.
• Collaborate with Community Managers and Board of Directors when needed.
Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in full cycle accounting.
• CPA License is a plus but not required.
• Experience managing staff.
• Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Caliber is a plus).
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience working with property management or homeowner associations
• Familiarity with HOA accounting
• Knowledge of applicable collection laws and regulations
