I am planning on planting these in my home to eat the fruits when they come. Photos appreciated too. I prefer to do local only in Orange County, but if the deal is really good I'd be willing to drive a bit.

Have you ever wanted to have a couple of coconut palms in your backyard with a hammock tied to them so you can sip a drink and fall asleep from all the worries of the world? Still dreaming? Now there's a chance to have your Coco Palm "look-alike" and get close to your utopia without the worry of your palms being damage/killed in the next cold front.

Some have already labeled this palm as the California Coco Palm or The Frozen Coconut Palm, because it's a kissing cousin to the Cocos Nucifera. Recently discovered in a higher plateau of the Island of Madagascar west of Antsirabe, this new form of Beccariophoenix originates in a humid valley on the high plateaux (approximately 3,000 feet above sea level), where the temperatures can drop below freezing at night in winter, making it ideal for Southern California and it's occasional freezes. The plant is quite distinct from B. madagascariensis and B. Sp. (Eastern), which are similar palms in Madagascar but more sensitive to the cold then the Alfredii.

Though it does prefer a warmer, humid climate, it will grow well during hot dry days, making it perfect for those marginal, desert climates, for those who feel they are a few days away from the closest Coconut palm. The leaves also seem to be unscathed from 110 degrees down to 28 degrees.

FACTS

Like most palm trees Beccarios like rich and well draining soil.

Light: Can take full sun, even from an early age, and in their native land grown in full sun in open fields and valleys.

Moisture: Beccarios like an ample amount of water keeping the soil moist in between waterings.

Hardiness: Zones 9b-11, they can take about 8 hours of frost with minimal leaf damage.

There have been reports that seedlings in Orlando, Florida survived icicles hanging off the leaf tips with little or no damage. Beccarios are also moderate growers but will grow well with extra TLC and Palm fertilizer. New clones quickly grow and develop a strong root system as the stems are lightly misted with a mixed water/nutrient solution!

Our kit comes COMPLETE, with everything you�ll need to begin rooting fresh cuttings. You only need to provide plants, water, and light. We�ve handled the rest!

Comes with complete Aeroponics setup including reservoir, plugs, and pump.

We can also include an adjustable timer with each of our systems for an additional $20. We recommend that you set your system on a 60 minutes on/30 minutes off schedule. Still unkown to many, these Foxtail Palm Tree or Wodyetia Bifurcata are massive and have a 10-12'' (average) diameter base trunk (see photo below) in 25 gallon pots. They also have about a 7-8' trunk height and an overall 12-14' tall height! Ready for full sun.

Remember, these are NOT Florida grown like some of the Florida imports you might have seen sold or planted in SoCal. Our foxtails are originally grown from seed in Hawaii but acclimated in Southern California.

We also provide transplanting tips that will help your Foxtails acclimate faster to your environment.
